It is a Dr. Seuss inspired day of fun in the sun with the kids. For those of you who have never experienced Dove Field Day, you're in for a treat. It's a full day of running, jumping, games, races, sunshine, laughter and smiles. Students created and submitted works of art incorporating this year's theme in six categories. We had four participants, and all of these entries were advanced to the district level for judging. They were awarded the following:Srot Jha Visual Arts Dove Elementary 1stAlexis Mize Photography Dove Elementary 1stRainie Luo Visual Arts Dove Elementary 3rdJessica Farbisz Visual Arts Dove ElementaryThe 1st place winners were advanced the State level for judging, where Alexis Mize was awarded Honorable Mention in Photography!Participants and their families are invited to attend a celebration of these achievements on Monday, May 13th in the Library from 3-4pm!The Dove Elementary PTA will offer two $500 scholarships to students from Grapevine High School, Colleyville Heritage High School or Bridges Accelerated Learning Center. Among other requirements, the scholarships are offered to GCISD graduating seniors who attended Dove Elementary and are student members of their high school's PTSA. Each year the Dove 4th grade takes a day long field trip to Austin to visit the Bob Bullock Texas State Museum and tour the Texas State Capitol Building. This trip compliments the fourth grade study of Texas State History and is an exciting adventure for students and Chaperones.Fifth Grade parents! The school looked great with many decorations both on the inside and outside of our campus. Dove came in 1st place for outside decorations in the district-wide judging and placed in the Top 3 for inside decorations. The students participated with dress-up days such as wearing bright colors (I'm Too Bright for Drugs), pajamas (Follow Your Dreams -- Don't Do Drugs) and as always, wearing lots of red.
