Hope everyone had a great break during the holidays. We are looking forward to a fun second half of the year at Dove Elementary. A big THANK YOU to all who have donated time, money, and brain power to our PTA efforts. Everything our families do for the school and our children is invaluable. It is amazing the amount of volunteer hours that are logged at DES. It makes me proud to serve as PTA President with such great parents who support the association.

We have some exciting activities and plans for the next few months. Muffins for Moms and Valentine parties are Friday the 13th. The 1st grade will perform for us Feb. 19 during our monthly general PTA meeting. Please join us for food, entertainment, and a little info.

Now is the time to begin thinking about volunteering for a PTA Board position. We're always in need of volunteers with fresh ideas, organizational skills or a financial background to serve on the Executive Board. Please contact us if you are interested, or know someone who might be interested in serving on the PTA Board.

Don't forget our Friday treats. Your help with donations and purchasing goodies allows the PTA to buy classroom supplies, weekly readers, field trips,and additional needed items for DES. We are in the process of getting approval from the school district for an outside water fountain on the playground. This has been a direct request from several students, teachers, and Dove parents.

Kudos to the Dove PTA members who have been successful in getting approval by the Grapevine Parks and Recreation Committee to extend the Dove Park fence. A vote will now go before the City Council. We are excited about this city funded project for all of our childrens' safety. A special Thank You to Laura Nelson and all of you who devoted time and effort to attend the Grapevine P&R meetings.
