Dear Dove Families,

"Wild About Dove" is the theme at Dove for the 2007-08 school year! The staff felt that this was such of great description of how we feel and how our families feel about our wonderful school. We are so proud of the accomplishments made list year and the fact that we have been named an exemplary school by the Texas Education Agency. Everyone has worked very hard to achieve this level of success and I am proud of everyone.

It will be another busy year with our students and we look forward to many events, activities and learning experiences. We are also looking forward to the continued partnership with our parents and community. It is the combined efforts of all of you that make dove what it is. I count it a privilege to be here and working with such a great group!

As you enter the front door and sign in with our office staff you will then be "buzzed" into the building. This secured door will allow us to provide additional security for our students. Thanks goes to the Dove PTA for funding half of this project. The other half was funded by cookie dough sales from last year that our students participated in. What a great PTA we have and we appreciate their partnership on this project!

We have the most incredible cafeteria in the state! Our cafeteria has been totally redecorated with a Texas themed mural on all walls. This is another project fostered by the PTA. Nanette Petrie, a Dove parent and professional artist, has donated her talents to a total renovation of the cafeteria which incorporates student work and the true treasures of Texas. The PTA supplied the materials and Nanette provided her skills. She had a group of moms come in and help her with some of the work and they were excellent assistants!! You will want to come and see her handiwork which our students will enjoy daily as they have their lunchtime.

The office, lounge and conference room have had a facelift as well and we hope you enjoy the new look. We want our building to show the pride that we feel. We are proud of Dove and hope that a little facelift reflects our pride! The hallways have a fresh coat of paint and the custodians have worked to clean and be prepared for students.

2007-08 is going to be a fantastic year and we are looking forward to great things to come!
