Tardy Information
2005-2006 School Year

It is extremely important that your child be on time to school each and every day! Being on time teaches our students skills that will be valuable to them in the future and encourages a positive start for the day! We understand that there are times when extenuating circumstances cause a student to be late and our policy allows for a few days of running behind and looking for lost shoes!

Dove Tardy Policy

Students will serve a detention after being tardy on 5 occasions. Every subsequent tardy within the nine weeks will result in a detention. If a child comes to school late with a doctor's note, that is a tardy that will not count against them. Tardy detention will be held on Thursdays from 3:00-3:30. Students will be notified as to where detention will be held.

A student is tardy if they are not in the classroom when the 8:00 bell rings.

Dove's policy is in accordance with the information presented in the Student-Parent Handbook and Student Code of Conduct which you received at the beginning of school.

p. 45 "A student who is tardy to class will be assigned to detention hall. Repeated instances of tardiness will result in more severe disciplinary action."

Tardies will be recorded in your child's planner. You will be able to clearly see if he/she has been tardy. Upon a child's 5th tardy, the parent will be notified in writing of the child's up coming assignment to after school detention. After a child has served two detentions, the parents will be contacted by the principal and notified of the consequence for "repeated instances"
