Dove's Environmental committee has gotten off to a great start! There are several projects planned for this year to educate and help make our school a "greener" place.
First, we will need parent volunteers to escort our students to the recycling dumpster once a week. This will ease the burden of the staff and insure that all the collecting that is done will continue.
Second, Dove will begin a composting program that will take our garden waste and our lunch waste and turn it into fertile soil for our gardens. This will also benefit the school and the landfill by reducing the amount of waste in our dumpster and in the landfills.
Third, Dove families will be receiving less paper home in the Monday Folders. There is a new Family Distribution list that will eliminate duplicate papers being sent home in a single family. In other words, if you have more than one student at Dove you will NOT receive more that one flier about school wide events. There will still be occasions where each student needs a copy of a certain handout but overall there will be less paper coming home!
Lastly, the Environmental Committee will be sponsoring special days throughout the year to promote conservation and awareness. Look for more information about those days in the weeks and months to come.
