SEVERE ALLERGY ALERT!

We have a few students in first grade with SEVERE allergy to peanuts and tree nuts (almonds, pistachios, walnuts, pecans, cashews, etc). Strict avoidance of peanut/tree nuts is the only way to prevent a life threatening allergic reaction. We are asking your assistance in providing the students with a safe learning environment. To reduce the risk of exposure, these classrooms will be PEANUT/TREE NUT FREE. Please do not send any products that contain peanuts to eat in the classroom. Peanut Butter or having nuts for a snack at lunch is acceptable. In the cafeteria, there will be a designated peanut/tree nut free area where any classmate without these products may sit. Please keep this in mind if you plan on bringing treats for the classroom. All food must be brought to school in the original container. It is our goal for the school to make every child's experience here the most positive one possible, but above all it is our job to keep our students safe from harm. Thank you for your help with this very important health issue.

Students with the following more obvious symtoms should be excluded from school until symptoms are gone or the child has been examined by a physician and allowed to return to school.

  1. Oral temperature of 101.4 or above
  2. Vomiting and/or persistent diarrhea within the past 24 hours
  3. Uncontrolled persistent coughing
  4. Red, draining eyes
  5. Undiagnosed skin rash with fever or behavior change
  6. Headlice and/or nits
  7. Strep infections until 24 hours after antibiotic treatment begins
